KYC/AML & Source of Funds

Clear standards for trading, crypto, and business income

We apply know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering standards to every client and every deposit. We built our onboarding to properly evaluate trading, crypto, and business income, rather than turning it away out of habit.

Our Approach

We apply know your customer and anti money laundering standards to every client and every deposit. We built our onboarding to properly evaluate trading, crypto, and business income, rather than turning it away out of habit, but every source of funds still needs to be documented and verifiable.

Documentation We Accept

  • Statements from regulated brokers for Forex, CFD, or equities trading income
  • Exchange issued statements and transaction history for crypto proceeds, from exchanges with real compliance programs
  • Business financial statements and invoicing history for corporate income
  • Tax filings or audited accounts that support your declared income

Source of Funds vs. Source of Wealth

These two terms get used interchangeably but mean different things. Source of Funds refers to the origin of a specific transaction, where did this particular deposit come from. Source of Wealth refers to how your overall net worth was built over time, your career, business ownership, inheritance, long term investment gains. A straightforward account opening usually only requires Source of Funds documentation for your initial deposit and typical incoming transactions. Larger private banking relationships, particularly ones structured around a substantial trading track record, may also involve a Source of Wealth conversation, since the bank needs to understand not just where this month's deposit came from but the broader financial picture it fits into.

Documenting Trading Income, in Practice

For Forex and CFD trading income, the strongest documentation is a full account statement from the broker covering a meaningful period, showing your starting balance, trading activity, and the specific withdrawal being documented, not just a screenshot of a single payout. For crypto derived income, acceptable documentation typically includes exchange account statements showing purchase and trading history, transfer confirmations if funds moved between wallets or exchanges, and, where relevant, records connecting an original fiat deposit to the crypto activity that followed. If you mine, stake, or earn crypto through a platform rather than trading it directly, statements from that specific platform showing the activity serve the same purpose.

What We Look For

We look for consistency between what you have told us and how the account is actually used, a traceable path from the original platform or business to the funds landing at Winslow, and a willingness to work with our compliance team if they need more information. Source of funds review is not a one time hurdle at onboarding. We keep monitoring accounts over time, and we may ask for updated documentation as your trading or account activity changes.
